Whale Sashimi

On the same night in which I partook of horse meat in Kyoto, I stopped at an izakaya just down the street to sample another controversial Japanese delicacy: kujira, or whale. Served raw with shoyu and minced ginger, the whale sashimi tasted like raw beef with just the slightest hint of the sea. Quite a unique experience.
